Heat Wave!

It's hot! The first day of summer came in with a vengeance that won't be leaving until the weekend. Right now the heat index is 107 degrees! It's making me lazy and in need of a nap. We have roughly 5000 square feet of house (not all livable) and 4 window air conditioning units, 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs. Usually this is enough to keep us comfortable but today I closed off a couple of rooms to keep our living space a little cooler. My computer is in the spare bedroom so I'm typing this in a stuffy room.

I think the heat is getting to me because I'm really struggling with my wording and just can't think of anything spectacularly interesting to share.

Here are a few random pictures of some of my favorite possessions.

One of the handles of my desk

I was just "gifted" this school desk (I now have 3!)

A peek inside my china cabinet - I love that little book

One of a pair of vases we received for a wedding gift from a wonderful friend. Do you see my french door in the mirror? I love those too but I wouldn't dare take a picture of them in their current condition!!! You'll just have to trust me...

My Great Aunts bronzed gloves and my Grandmother's 8th grade school book

One of my Baby Ben's

My free piano that still needs tuning

I love this linen chest!

A comfy chair

My Great Aunt and Uncle's Wedding certificate from 1941

I think I'm going to take that nap now... stay cool!

  1. What beautiful items! Love that desk drawer handle, and the comfy chair! You have a beautiful home and i'm sure that even though it is sometimes 'stuffy', it's a joy to have all that room! Blessings!

  2. Kathy,

I hope you are managing in the heat. We were in the 90s yesterday and will be hitting 100 today. I could never live in the south and I don't know how you girls do it.
I love all your shared antique pieces and family heirlooms. The linen chest, chair, and your desk with detailed handles are especially beautiful.

    Your Friend,
    Deborah

  3. I adore everything- especially those bookends! It reminds me of a matching set Ive seen somewhere but they are styled like the old button ladies boots.

If I ever see them again I am going to get them for you so you have a matching pair. :)
