It's good to have friends....

I should have known to ask one of my best friends about the glass piece I was questioning on my last post. I have know Peg for 15 years, she has been in the antique business for more than that (but I won't post how long because I love her!). She's one of those people who know just about everything regarding antiques. I emailed her a picture of my find and asked her what it is, here is what she told me:

You have a good eye- you have a master salt- used at the table to fill individual salts. It would have had a small silver spoon with it. Remind me when you come out- I'll give you one. I date it around 1900.

Yea, I love a good find. Even if I don't know what it is at the time!

  2. ooh! Thats so cool! What a wonderful find! Now that I know what it is I am going to keep an eye out- though I don't think I have ever seen one before you showed it. Maybe its something I keep over looking because I didn't know what it is. Either way you inspired me. :)

  3. Kathy,

Score! Don't you just love it when something catches your eye without rhyme or reason and ends up being a true treasure?
Thanks for explaining what it is. I've never seen one before.

    Your Friend,
