Painting complete (for now)

The painters are finally done and gone - yea! I'm not going to put any of the furniture on the porch for a couple of days (I want to make sure that it is dry!) and besides Louisa wants a new cast iron table and chairs!!! Here are couple a of before and afters....

If you have 4 porch ceilings and three are painted light green, what color would you paint the fourth???? I guess we weren't specific enough when we said "Paint all the ceilings green". Oh, well... at least it has paint on it. As you can see they did scrape the paint off the door windows (not the best job in the world). I'm thinking this fall I'm going to take the door off and strip it so I'm not too worried about it. The best news is the city said we are off the hook for the peeling paint!

Scrape, scrape, scrape, Primer!!!

The painters have been hard at work scraping paint. Today we got some primer up! It looks a lot better with just the primer (can't wait until it's finished). I have been sick for the last 4 days so I haven't gotten any pictures. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get outside before they descend upon us. Remember that scene in The Money Pitt when Shelly Long is in the bathroom and opens the medicine cabinet to get something and there inside the cabinet is the guy working on the house looking in at her? Well that's the way I feel, need to get a shower before guys are climbing ladders to the 2nd floor!

We have a painter!

I am totally stealing this joke from "This Decrepit Victorian's" blog (because I laughed out loud when I read it!!!):

A guy meets a hooker in a bar. She says, “This is your lucky night. I’ve got a special game for you. I’ll do absolutely anything you want for $300, as long as you can say it in three words.” The guy replies, “Hey, why not?” He pull his wallet out of his pocket, and one at a time lays three hundred-dollar bills on the bar, and says, slowly: “Paint…my…house.”

We just hired someone to paint the double porches, side and back of the house! Yea!!!! He will start in the morning. He was painting the house 2 doors down and I stopped and asked for a quote. It's nice to be able to see someones work before you hire them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they do a good job and it doesn't take too long (we won't be able to use the pool for a few days).

Back of the house looking into the kitchen. I'll have to take pictures of the porches before he starts. Wish us luck :-)
